I'm reaching out to you, my friends and supporters, in a time of need. My current service dog Winky is coming up on retirement, and I need a replacement worker. I adopted a lovely rottweiler named Riley who shows great promise even now at 3 months old, but we could really use some help paying for her training and necessities. I've set up a YouCaring fundraiser but would be happy to work with you if you'd like to donate in another way. Please help me if you're able - and please share this fundraiser far and wide.
Without a service dog, I'm not able to do so many things that you probably take for granted. Without a service dog, I can't drive, shop, get a decent night's sleep, keep medical appointments, meet up with friends in public, or any number of other things. With Winky's help (and in the future, Riley's help), I've gone from dissociating several times a day in unsafe situations to only a few times a week with enough warning to get to a safe situation before it starts. With his help, my panic attacks are daily instead of hourly. With his help, I've pursued new hobbies, met new friends, tried new food, and been able to leave my house more than half of my days instead of locking myself in my bedroom in a ball of terror most days. My quality of life is vastly improved with the assistance of a trained service dog, and I'm afraid that if I'm not able to give Riley that training, I'll end up back where I started. Please, please, please, if you can spare even a penny, please help me stay as independent as I am now. If you can't spare a penny, please ask your friends and family if they can help me. I hope to be able to return to work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant with continued help from my doctors and therapist, but I will need Riley at my side to do that. Help me financially, and I will help Riley learn, and she will help me, and together we will help more people recover from surgeries, strokes, and illnesses.
Thank you for reading this, and thank you for helping us. I love and appreciate every single person who reads, donates, and shares. You are awesome.
