ashkittySo this isn't exactly life or death, and there are people with far bigger troubles this season, but I'm going to ask anyway.
My family sent me Christmas presents. They live on the west coast of the US and I live in Wales, so it's always pretty special to get things from them. only this time, UK customs has decided I have to pay £30 to free them from the depot in Shrewsbury where they are being held hostage.
I've never had to pay to get my Christmas presents before! (I don't even see why it should be that much--they're not generally fancy or expensive presents. Last year my mom made me a calendar out of old childhood photos of me and my sister.) And I don't generally mind having to pay for things, but it was a rough year, and that £30 is literally my food budget for the rest of the month.
I know everybody is strapped this time of year, and I will figure something out. But if you have a little extra and are okay with helping, any little bit would help and I would really appreciate it. I can't afford to send anything back but a thank-you message and warm and fuzzy feelings, but those will be of the most profound and heartfelt sort. And as always, I'll pay it forward when I can!
I'm not setting up anything on a fund raising site because it seems so frivolous, but my paypal address is aeluratrix [at] gmail [dot] com.
Have a very happy Christmas (or Yule, Chanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, Stay Inside And Drink Mulled Wine Time, or whatever else you may celebrate).
