Boston area vets, other resources for finding professionals/fun things

Hi,

Partner and I are planning a move to Boston with our two cats, and hoping to locate a vet before we move. (There is nothing like not having a vet to induce your cat to eat something they should not.)

We're looking at places in the Jamaica Plains/Green Line areas, but would be willing to travel for a good vet. (I think we drive like 40 minutes each way now, so anything less than that is even more amazing!) Also, someone who has reasonable prices with the understanding that, y'know, vet school costs money and I believe in paying people a fair price for their labor is also good.

Also, if anyone knows of any listservs or comms or whatever to share Boston type resources or rec's for doctors (who maybe aren't assholes to people with chronic pain) or other professionals or even fun social events, that would be great. I've been mooching off a family member's area Angie's List membership, but it doesn't transfer to Boston and I'd very much like to not need to pay for membership to something like that.

Any recommendations for Boston-area list-servs or whatnot would be greatly appreciated! Signal boosting also okay. :)

I strongly recommend asking [personal profile] copperbadge to signal boost this on the next Radio Free Monday.

The best Boston area knowledge resource I know of is [livejournal.com profile] davis_square, which is Somerville-centric, but I'm sure a politely worded post like this one would get you some recommendations and possibly pointers to other Boston area resources. Good luck!

we're in Greater Boston, would you like us to signal-boost this to the disability/pain/chronic illness Facebook group we belong to? they might have good recommendations for chronic-pain-friendly doctors.
